Site Name: Row Three

What is the main focus of your site (reviews, editorials, news, lists, etc.)?
Hmmm, a tough one. I guess discussion is the key focus of the site. With half a dozen contributors posting everything from reviews, podcasts, news items, columns on genre (Vampire, Overlooked Sci-Fi, revisionist westerns) as well as specific filmmakers (John Carpenter for instance) as well as little articles on significant and/or interesting scenes from movies (“Finite Focus) we tend to have a bit of a kitchen sink approach to delivering content, although all of it is in service of getting a good conversation going. Want to know how to get from Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story to Au Hazard Balthasar; or from Starship Troopers to Gerry? How about a 15000+ word digression on the water plot device in M. Night Shayamalan’s Signs? You’ll find that at Row Three.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
All of the contributors previously used to either run their own blog, contribute to other blogs out there in the blog-o-verse or spend an inordinate amount of time commenting on blogs. So why not join forces and form our own little community? The goal is to have a ‘back room’ where folks can offer film suggestions, trade knowledge or get in a fun argument about just about anything film related. The more we grind against each other the smarter and more informed everyone gets.

Do you prefer an interactive ‘community’ for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers are the students?
If we are the teachers, we sure get chastised a lot by our students. No, really the posts and columns are a springboard for a variety of savvy film goers to bounce suggestions and opinions off one another. At the end of the day when the dust settles, we’d happily go for a beer if we were not scattered willy-nilly across the planet.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Most of us have been blogging for 5+ years on film (amongst other subjects). Rowthree.com has been around since November 2007 when we decided to amalgamate of sorts. Between the group there is half a dozen or most posts a day, and usually a screen-shot quiz. Any and all of these allow for the conversation to be always ongoing in the comments sections. Folks there can go from earnest to arch to feisty to surly on a dime. It’s a jungle.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
The Conversation, The Maltese Falcon and Big Trouble in Little China; films about lonely men behaving badly, but oddly enough, with the best of intentions.

How did you hear about the LAMB?
Colleeny of 353 Haiku Movie Reviews contributes to one of Row Three’s several podcasts (After the Credits)

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.

Any fan of Big Trouble In Little China is a fan of me. Wait. What I mean to say that fandom that finds Big Trouble usually finds me finding it. Shit. Hang On. I like those who like Big Trouble. There.
