It's Blusterin' Time!
And remember: Blustering should be a two-way street; if you've asked to be blustered, you better be a blusterer.
If you're new to this feature or need a refresher, click the label at the bottom of this post and see the first few posts. Otherwise, here's the basics:
What I'll do is list a site; you're asked to critique it. But here's the catch: to induce the most honest reactions, don't leave the comment using your normal alias/login - instead, go anonymous, and be as brutally honest (or complimentary) as you wish to be. Also, be specific, and naturally, don't be rude. If I deem anything inappropriate, I'll have no problem deleting the comment.
So, go to the site listed below, familiarize yourself with it for a few minutes, then come back and leave some constructive criticism and/or comments that you have.
Site: Cut the Crap Movie Reviews
LAMB#: 368
URL: http://ctcmr.com/
If you're up for this treatment for your site (and you're a LAMB), send me an email with the subject "Bluster Me!" If you've already done so, no need to do it again - you're on the list, and these will be going up in order of when I received your email (by the way, it could take a while for your site to be Blustered, since I don't run this more than once a week or so).

People are going to bust your balls about the wordpress window preview, but I think it makes your blog unique.
ReplyDeleteYou do actually "cut the crap" and gave your honest impression on movies. Sometimes, I disagree with your opinions, but we could have a healthy debate.
Your reviews are to-the-point, thorough and great. The polls and discussions are always entertaining. Easy to find reviews.
ReplyDeleteAs for the visual wordpress really doesn't leave people the opportunity to make each blog unique.
I don't agree with previous poster: wordpress do let you customize and make your blog as unique as you want.
ReplyDeleteThis being said, ctcmr is very boring in appearance and could benefit from some customizatioon instead of just a plain and simple template.
But the point is about movie review, not showing our Web designer skills so I will not complain more about this.
I like the reviews. They are well written and fun to read.
The strongest point, to me, is the variety of reviewed movies: from Hollywood blockbuster to obscure and trashy japanese B-movies. This is great!
A great blog that I will, from now on, visit often.
Wow, you guys freakin' rock. Really appreciate the feedback, everyone. I started out on Blogspot, then moved it over Wordpress a couple months back, and even though it's still pretty simple from a visual standpoint, seems like a quantum leap from what I was working with. Any suggestions you guys might have about sprucing this sucker up would be very much appreciated. Thanks a ton, you make me happy.
ReplyDeleteFor once, I find it hard to be constructive...and that's because I've become a HUGE fan of this blog in a very short amount of time.
ReplyDeleteIf there were a LAMMY for Rookie of The Year, Aiden would get my vote easily.
The look of the blog is perfect, the content is engaging, and the reviews are some of the best written out there.
The only thing CTCR needs to do is keep up the good work.
Well, this past comment just made my night. Whoever is out there, you'd get my Lammy vote.
ReplyDeleteYour blog look amazing......good work
ReplyDeleteI've been reading your blog for a month now and I'll tell you what, this is how I start my morning. Know why? I don't like crap in my coffee. Great job, keep it up!
ReplyDeleteIt's up to you but I'd keep the web design simple. It too is crap-free.
Enjoy reading your stuff (Slaughterhouse Five is next up in the netflix queue thanks to you), only complaint is a minor one. Proof read. Other than that, well done. Well done indeed.
Haha, thanks for compliments, man. Really appreciate it. I agree, proofreading's always been my Achilles heel, it's just so much easier to press "Publish Post" and be done with it. But alas, I'll keep it in mind to give these reviews another once-over from now on before releasing it to the public. Hope you enjoy Slaughterhouse-Five, just make sure you read the book.
ReplyDeleteGreat Blog. Only complaint is that the blog needs to be updated more efficiently (12:00 am everyday), and whatever happened to the humorous captions/editing of the movie posters?
ReplyDeleteThanks, man. Yeah, I hear ya. It's just hard to write reviews sometimes, especially hungover, but I'll do my best to truck on through. And I didn't know anyone even noticed those poster alterations, much appreciated. Looks like I gotta download MSPaint on my mac somehow and get back to work on that.
ReplyDeleteNot only do you have an honest and concise review of movies, both old and new, but you have such a varying array of movies from a whole slew of genre's, now we don't have to scour the internet to find what we're looking for. I very much enjoy your reviews for there uniqueness and I love how you manage to look at every movie from multiple perspectives so it's not just your preferences, projected to the rest of the world, that are displayed on the page. Keep it up, brother!
ReplyDeleteMy only thing is that if you claim that you "cut the crap," something needs to be more concise in your reviews. I like reading them, but even if it was just a sentence at the beginning or end that was your version of the Rotten Tomatoes consensus. You know, for those people that don't have time to read the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteLove the reviews, always funny, and you certainly you a good amount about movies. I enjoy how you notice a movie that can take it to the next level with something as simple as lighting, that is something I would never realize when watching a movie. I also happen to love the almost minimalistic style of the sites layout. But hey, personal preference I guess.
ReplyDeleteMy only critisism is that you can get off topic outside of the movie. You sometimes go on tangents about the other movies a director has done, or if the actors have been in better films. I like that you mention it, but sometimes it can make your reviews, which have gotten much longer than when you started, even longer. Keep up the good work though, very funny.
And the commentator before me, he does have a concise way of showing what he thought. The start of every review is a very hilariously labeled rating.
