LAMBcast #5

The LAMBcast is back in its full form, and back with a full slate of five hosts. The featured discussion this time out is none other than the supposed "last great movie star," Mr. George Clooney, who (in case you've been living under a rock in a cave) might have three films out at your local theater next month when Up in the Air opens, joining The Men Who Stare at Goats and his vocal contribution to The Fantastic Mr. Fox. We dissect his career, from The Facts of Life to Batman & Robin and everything in between. Also on tap: some Trailer Talk and a game of Last Man Person Standing.

In it, I was joined by fellow LAMBs:

* Tom Clift of Plus Trailers
* Nick Jobe of Random Ramblings of a Demented Doorknob,
* Mike Mendez of Big Mike's Movie Blog, and
* Alex Kittle of Film Forager.

Trailers discussed:

I hope you'll join us, either as a listener or, if you're interested, as a fellow podcaster. For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums.

As usual, the music, as provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod's Incompetech website, is the bomb. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service.

You can listen by playing it in the widget in the left sidebar; if you'd like to add it to your site (you would), click the "Add to my page" link. Also, you can find us on iTunes; just go to the Podcasts section and search for "LAMBcast."

If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, we'd love to hear them.

  1. If you guys needed a "Batman & Robin" expert, I would've been more than happy to help.

Otherwise, I think I liked the inclusion of Alex. She had some neat things to say. Hopefully me and her can do an episode together in the future.

  2. I like to call Avatar Lawrence of Pandora.

Clooney is playing an assassin in The American, I doubt he will be a real villain, but more like Brosnan in The Matador.

  5. Jim - why the "yeep?"

Jason - you "think" you liked Alex? She had some "neat" things to say? Hmmm - not exactly a ringing endorsement. ;P

I think I'll sit out the LAMBcast that goes in-depth on Batman & Robin. Roller-blading bad guys with clown costumes on. What a friggin' abortion of a movie.

Fitz - thanks for the heads up; I'm not terribly familiar with what's on Clooney's horizon outside of this year's releases.

Speaking of which (Tom) - you're aware of said releases, and that's what I was getting at. You may not have them available to you, but as a movie blogger, you'd be out of the loop if you weren't aware of all his upcoming (or already released...in N. America at least) flicks.

Anyone - want in on the next show? You know where to go...we're hammering it out right now for sometime this weekend.

  6. Nice podcast - and you're right, Tarantino does have a big head. Sean Penn too. Clooney making that transition from TV is quite an achievement too! I think Clooney's tag line as the 'last great movie star' is only due to his similarity to Cary Grant - some might argue that Johnny Depp is as credible, if not moreso, than Clooney...
