LAMBcast #17

by Fletch · April 1, 2010 · LAMBcast, Podcasts · 6 Comments

Back so soon? Yes, we LAMBcasters have been a busy group lately, haven’t we?

We now present you with a “special” episode in which we count down some of our favorite foreign (language) films (our primary language being English…kind of). I think I can safely say that of all the LAMBcasts yet, this is the one you don’t want to miss. On hand were a gang of fools, from Nick Jobe to Mike Mendez to Jason Soto to This Guy and myself. We laughed, we cried, we broadened our horizons. That’s followed up by a couple games of Last LAMB Standing and some Trailer Talk, in which we discussed Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and the epic Weird Al biopic.

It should also be noted that this one’s a bit bluer than usual, so use those headphones if there be kids around.

If you’re interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster – we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums.

As usual, the music, as provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website, is the bomb. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service.

You can find us on iTunes; just go to the Podcasts section and search for “LAMBcast.” And hey – while you’re on iTunes, why don’t you go ahead and either rate the LAMBcast or write a review of it. Better yet, do both! It’ll help us get noticed by the overlords at Apple and earn worldwide fame…or something like that.

Oh, and Happy April Fool’s Day.

Listened to half of it so far … ive lost track of who has given away their top choices, etc, on their lists – and Im sure its cheating if you simply ‘switch’ your top 5 list if someones already said it. Eg- “oh, you’ve taken amelie so … il switch it with wages of fear”. thats not on.

The accents thing too … I don’t get it. I also lose track of how many people are there – deep-south american, bad-english guy, weird accent guy and co …

Though its always intersting to hear such lists – would apocalypto and passion count? is it films simply ‘not in the english language’ or is it ‘films outside of usa and england’ or even ‘foreign films’. you might answer this at the end of the podcast, but currently, Im none the wiser.

Simon – I don’t care for the switching up of lists, either (I’ve already given Hatter trouble for it on his podcast). If I was you what you favorite film is, and then I tell you mine’s Jurassic Park, you’re not going to change your mind, and I don’t think you should just for an excuse to talk about a different film (even if you argued that it made for a better podcast). If the film is so great that multiple people have it on their list, certainly you can think of something of interest to add to the conversation.

RE: your point about Apocalypto, etc. – it gets addressed, but isn’t certifiably answered. Though it was my intention to get people’s favorite non-English film. As I pointed out, though, that gets tricky: where does Inglourious Basterds or The Science of Sleep fall on that scale?

Which was the one who first brought up The Crippling Masters? My browser froze and I missed the name.

    Awesome cast, yeah…Visitor Q?

    so much fun

  5. Nick says:

Yeah, I thought the switching of the choices was a bit weird (I’m with Dylan’s train of thought on this)… but don’t be hating on the accents! They’re epic.

  6. Jason Soto says:

I bought up The Crippled Masters AND Visitor Q. My list was probably the best list evar!!!!!!!!!!
