LAMBcast #22

by Fletch · May 20, 2010 · 2010 LAMMYs, LAMBcast, Podcasts, The LAMMYs · 13 Comments

Podomatic decided that today would be a good day to experiment and/or do something else to screw up their embedded players. If you’re having issues reaching the player, getting an error about the XML file, please try to access using a non-Internet Explorer browser. Alternatively, you can go to this page: http://lambcast.podomatic.com/entry/2010-05-20T11_00_59-07_00. Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience.

UPDATE: All appears to be in working order now.

It’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for! The glitz and glamour of the LAMMYs have made their way to the LAMBcast. That’s right – the main post and voting instructions will arrive shortly, but this is the spot if you want to be amongst the first to hear the nominations for the 2010 LAMMY Awards.

I was joined by a rogue’s gallery of awards commentators (specifically, Rachel Thuro, Nick Jobe and Travis McCollum) as we spelled out the 15 categories, the nominees, and where applicable, gave a shout out to the winners of years past. Along the way, a few extended discussions (e.g. What does it mean to be a Horror/Sci-Fi Blog, and is a specific award relevant for them?) and at the end, our usual games of Last LAMB Standing and some Trailer Talk.

If you’re interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster – we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums.

As usual, the music, as provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website, is the bomb. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service.

You can find us on iTunes; just go to the Podcasts section and search for “LAMBcast.” And hey – while you’re on iTunes, why don’t you go ahead and either rate the LAMBcast or write a review of it. Better yet, do both! It’ll help us get noticed by the overlords at Apple and earn worldwide fame…or something like that.

First, this is the first Lambcast I’ve listened to and that opening riff is beyond epic. Never change that opening riff.

Second…WOOHOO! 4 NOMS! Good way to end the work day.

  3. Mark says:

Woohooo, very happy to be nominated! Thanks to everyone who participated in the nomination process and takes the time to review all of these wonderful blogs. I don’t care if I win anything or not, but hopefully the Lammys (and the Lamb in general) will continue to bring attention to everyone’s good work.

    Whoo-hoo! Three nominations!

  6. Wow, how cool is that?! Might change my blog name to Lady Scary Sarah Girl in time for best blog Name Lammy 2011 though.. ;)

  7. Univarn says:

Awesome to hear so many of my favorite fellow lambs get nominated, really makes my day. That’s more important than anything (especially anything I got) so I give 3 cheers for them!

But major thanks to everyone who nominated me, I didn’t expect to get much, but each one is treasured greatly!

I won’t be voting for myself. Not sure if it’s personal belief, or faked morality, but that’s where I’m going to be just because.

  8. Fletch says:

Aiden – you mean the lambs themselves? Either way, thanks, and congrats on your noms.

Mark – well put. Depending on your interest level, it can take quite a while to vote, and I appreciate everyone that did for doing it. The more the merrier with something like this.

    elgringo – Woohoo, indeed!

Sarah – sounds like a very winning proposition…

Univarn – Also well-said. Nothing better than a bunch of your faves and friends also getting noms.

As for who I vote for, I think I’m capable of taking my biases out of it and really voting for the best site amongst the noms for the category. I know my strengths and weaknesses, and how they stack up against others. Anyway, good luck to ya!

  9. I’ll confess that this also was my first time listening to the LAMBcast … if you ever are looking for other people to join in, I’ll happily participate once summer begins!

  10. Heather says:

Awesome LAMBcast guys! It was a ton of fun to listen to, and I was really happy to hear so many of my fellow bloggers that I voted for win a ton of nominations. And thanks to everyone who voted for Movie Mobsters for being a sexy blog!!!!!! We try!

  11. Fletch says:

Marshall – yes, always interested in getting some new voices on the LAMBcast. Once school’s out, check the thread at the forums for info on the future shows.

Heather – many thanks, and congrats on your nomination!

  12. Castor says:

Thanks to all of you who voted for Anomalous Material. It truly has everything to do with our dedicated and awesome readers and the site would be nothing without you! THANK YOU!

  13. I like what Heather says; “Best Blog Design” should be renamed “Sexiest Blog” in 2011.
