LAMBcast #23

The Soto Curse lives on!

You know how, back in the ye olde days of VHS, how if you watched a tape too much, it would start to degrade and you'd be messing with the tracking trying to fix it? Well, that probably happened a lot to cult movies; those that were watched time and again by a loving few. So it's fitting, then, that the LAMBcast devoted to talking about cult movies features the audio equivalent of those tracking and degradation issue, as is sounds as though Nick Jobe is joining host Jason Soto from inside of a sewer. That's on fire. During an earthquake. Okay, maybe it's not that bad, but better that I prepare you for the worst, right?

Nevertheless, the two soldier on, even creating an alternate version of LLS since it was just the two of them (more Soto curseness). Stay tuned for that and some Trailer Talk and much, much more (just listen intently).

If you're interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster - we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums.

As usual, the music, as provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod's Incompetech website, is the bomb. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service.

Also, we're still on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it's a bad one. Thanks for listening!

  2. Holy crap... what the hell happened to the audio? I can hardly understand what I'm saying... and I said it! Jason! You just need to stop cursing us! Next time, I'M recording it... :P

Marshall: No worries, we did this one last weekend. They're always posted a week after we record them.

  3. You think that's bad, you should've heard the unedited version! This version i lowered the audio a bit.

I kinda know what happened but it's hard to explain. Let's say I was tired of being told "Jason, why do you sound so quiet" so I turned the volume up a bit. I didn't think it would affect Nick. My bad guys.

You know what, one of you guys might be the only ones to kill me, judging by how much I'm fucking cursed. I just wonder who it is. Knowing my luck, it'd be Travis.

  4. About 2/3 through this right now; as bad as I made the audio out to be, it really ain't all that bad. Not great, by any means, but I didn't really have any problems understanding Nick.

You guys put on a good show, though I must question the inclusion or exclusion of a couple movies. Napoleon Dynamite wasn't/isn't a cult movie. It was the "indie hit of 2004" (if it didn't already have that moniker, I'm gracing it with it). It made nearly $50 mil at the box office; for a movie that had zero expectations and starred a bunch of nobodies, that's a HUGE hit. Sure, it got even bigger on DVD, but I don't think it qualifies.

Now, I haven't gotten to the honorable mentions yet, but I'm surprised no one said Big Lebowski or Monty Python and the Holy Grail yet. Those were some big (and great) cult flicks.

    Looking forward to the rest...
