LAMBcast #36

For the 36th episode of the LAMBcast, we take on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and break it down at least seven different ways. What worked, what didn't, favorite fights, lines, and general gushing from Nick, who has named it his new favorite movie ever...at least until Machete comes out (kidding, Nick). Joining him were Tom, James, and me. That's followed up by the usual Trailer Talk (Black Swan, I'm Still Here) and Last LAMB Standing, but also by the latest segment on the LAMBcast, the LAMB of the Week, which is more or less an audio, non-anonymous version of Brutally Blunt Blog Blustering.

For the inaugural edition, Heather of Movie Mobsters put her site's neck on the line, and we tore it to shreds gave it our best mix of compliments and constructive criticism.
If you'd like your site to be a future LAMB of the Week, hit me up via email and I'll add you to the queue.

If you're interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster - we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums. Music provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod's Incompetech website. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service. The LAMBcast loves feedback, too. Either here in the comments section or to blogcabins@yahoo.com or to our Facebook page. Also, we're on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it's a bad one.

Thanks for listening!

  1. I fuckin loved this movie and if I knew you were one person short I would've made time to join in.

    Oh well. My thoughts:
-My favorite ex fight scene was probably the chick fight, not because I'm a sexist asshole but because I thought it was funny how Ramona used Scott to fight her.
-My least favorite was the twins. It went by too fast and it seemed to be in there only to get through 2 ex's quickly.
-My favorite scene was probably the last fight scene (the boss stage if you will) and how (SPOILERS)...pause...pause....
enough...Scott was killed but he had a 1UP so he redid the stage, much like you would in a video game.
-You guys barely touched on the music. The music in this movie was fuckin' awesome. I came home and "got" the soundtrack instantly. My favorite song is either "Threshold" (The twins fight song) or the Clash at Demonhead song "Black Sheep". And I wish the first song was called Launchpad McQuack, although I'm probably the only one that remembers him/that/those shows.
-Dylan, you're maybe a year or two older than me but I didn't have a hard time reading the little black boxes. I'll admit the pointing out the stuff in the apartment went too quickly but the gist of it was most of it was Wallace's stuff so I didn't need to read the whole thing.
-Finally, you guys wait until you do a 'cast without me to do Adam Sandler as Last Lamb Standing? WHAT! I would've fucking killed this game!! You guys forgot "8 Crazy Nights" "The Longest Yard" and he had a cameo in "Dirty Work", which is in my top ten funniest movies ever.

Ok, I think I said enough. Big fan of the show, I'll keep listening if you keep making them.

  3. Jason - Damn - sorry, it was a short notice kinda thing.

The twins certainly seems to be the consensus least favorite.

I could do for a straight-up listen to the soundtrack. I dug it, but there's sooooo much going on that it was hard to focus on it. Repeat viewings will help this, too.

"but the gist of it was most of it was Wallace's stuff so I didn't need to read the whole thing"

Didn't need to/couldn't - same difference. I got the gist, I just didn't have time to read them all. Again, repeat viewings. And I was totally nitpicking; it wasn't a big deal at all.

Sorry about Sandler. :( Instead, you got Cate Blanchett! :D

Heather - Thanks (for the "epic and exciting" part)!

Haha, I thought I was complimentary, too, though I do try to be more constructive than anything with these.

  4. Cate Blanchett was like giving a girl shotguns and booze, it was awesome. Thanks for having me on this week Dylan. It may not have been epic but it certainly was creepy via the ghost in my laptop.
