  1. Alex says:

I’m sorry but I have to ask- do you mean movies primarily aimed at women (like girly romantic comedies and such) or movies that are primarily about women characters (like Heathers, which I don’t think caters to a specific gender as its intended audience). Or both?

  2. Fletch says:

D’oh! I included a link to the Wiki page for “Chick Flicks” over at the poll, but forgot it here. I’ve added it.

That said, I would probably answer the former, but state that as with so many of these genres, the genre is in the eye of the beholder. Is Jonah Hex a western or a comedy? Is Spaceballs just comedy or also sci-fi? Most important, are Jerry Maguire and/or Bull Durham sports movies or chick flicks? The answer depends on who you ask…

  3. Alex says:

Ah yes, so true. Thanks for the quick response, Fletch!

  4. Simon says:

Almost all of mine are one there. I’m such a winner.

  5. No love for The Gay Divorcee? How could you people not love The Continental? And you call yourself cultured! Sheesh!

  6. Raquelle says:

I’m so glad that Three on a Match is on there, but I also see that more people need to watch Red-Headed Woman.

::slap:: Go on, do it again, I like it! – Jean Harlow

Sebastian – The Gay Divorcee? I never even thought of it in terms of being Pre-Code. I’ve never heard of the Continental, will have to check it out.

  7. Fletch says:

Simon – am I missing something. “almost all” = 2?

  8. Simon says:

I use a special metric system. You wouldn’t understand.

  9. The Continental is a song in The Gay Divorcee. It’s a musical! Fred Astaire? Ginger Rodgers? It’s awesome!
