What is the main focus of your site?
Kicking the Seat is dedicated to reviewing high and low cinema equally, with honest, in-depth criticism independent of popular tastes.

What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog?
Personally, I aim to improve my writing with every review. I would love to build enough of a knowledge of film and a readership to allow me to review movies professionally.

Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students?
I’m definitely the teacher. But reader comments and recommendations have turned me on to movies and ideas that I hadn’t previously considered; so it’s not a total one-way street.

How long have you been movie blogging for, and how frequent do you post updates to your site?
Kicking the Seat began as a Blogspot blog in August, 2009. In July, 2010 I launched it as its own Web site. I try to update the site with new reviews, commentary or Tweets daily, but it can be as infrequent as every two to three days.

Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more).
Better Off Dead
Trainspotting
The Room

How did you hear about the LAMB?
I saw your banner on the Phil on Film site.

Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above.
Q: “Where do you get off listing ‘The Room’ as one of your favorite movies?”
A: To me, masterpieces aren’t exclusively well-made films. Tommy Wiseau set off dancing lights in my brain with his perfectly-dreadful-in-every-detail drama.
