We had a full house of five LAMBcasters on board to discuss the latest installment of Wes Craven’s once-upon-a-time-hip teen slasher franchise – would we think this one continues the tradition or falls flat? Nick, Jason, James, Dylan and Simon break it down. Also – we bid adieu to the LAMB of the Week and unveil our new segment: Rants of the Week. Be sure to let us know what ya think!

Thanks for listening!

Great as usual guys. Loved the rant of the week segment. Very interesting discussion about Scream 4. I am totally with the ones saying that they should have killed of the original members and using socialmedia even more. Why wasn’t the killer on twitter for instance????
Finally, James needs to fix hic microphone. Its a pain in the ass to listen on because you cant have very high volume because of him otherwise it cuts your ears. And the other speakers dont work with low sound.
I like the change to Rant of the Week in concept, but it might be good to broaden it. “Rant” makes it sound negative and I’d like to hear what you are excited about too. Rants and Raves?
I avoided Scream 4, but may need to check it out based on your (overall) positive reviews. The Change-Up looked pretty meh. Jason Bateman seems like an actor in search of a script since Arrested Development.
@ Joel – Thanks a ton!
Seriously, they really dropped the ball with Scream 4, and I’m glad to see that the box office has possibly ensured that there won’t be any more. Sure, it’s not a terrible film, but it could have been so much better had they had some balls and/or really tried to say something about reboots and sequels rather than just saying over and over that it was a reboot.
I hear ya on James’ mic. Believe it or not, I think it sounds a lot better now than it did even a few weeks ago. He was too quiet before. I’ll see if we can’t find a happy medium.
@ !00 Years – New writer-inner! I will definitely take the “Rave” aspect into account. Maybe won’t get equal play, but tossing something positive in there would be a good idea. Though I do like to rant!
The Change-Up looks pretty awful – I think James summed it up best. And amen on Bateman…he does sollid work in bit parts like the one he had in Up In the Air, but his leading roles have been in some pretty poorly-written films for some time now. I guess Paul was the best of his recent stuff…
I am not sure thay are halting the Scream franchise. As you mentioned they have way more material to do a more up-do date version and I wouldn’t be surprised if they do one that is more in that direction.
I am just so freakin tired of Sydney. I wish they would have killed her off in the beginning Drew Barrymore style!
I wish the villain actually would have gotten away with it and killing off all the oldies or and then they could have built a new set of movies around that character.
Awesome work, a really enjoyable listen!
Scream 4 definitely has its problems and should have been better, but I’m curious as to where it will go for now. Personally I’d like to see Scream 5 tackled, and then make a call on whether to kill it or not (or at least leave it for another ten years, since it seems in true slasher style it’ll never really die…) but money talks, so who knows?
I also agree with 100 Years of Movies – a Rants and Raves would be interesting – would be nice to also hear what you’re looking forward to or something you particularly enjoyed.
Listening to this really makes me want to get a headset sorted out and dive in and join y’all one day!
When have you guys ever heard me say “crickey?”
Otherwise, some good impressions on this episode (although none as good as Scott and Whitney’s Aussie accents on Frankly, My Dear), and it was pretty funny to hear the return of Nick’s culturally confused Englishman. I swear I’m going to get back on an episode soon
