LAMBcast #110: The Hunger Games

Obviously, The Hunger Games needs way more catchphrases, because I’d like to start off this little summary with one of them, but there’s really only one, and it’s way overused as it is.  So I suppose I’ll just say, “I volunteer as, uh, host of the LAMBcast!”

Anyway, I was joined by Nick, Rachel and Dan as we dissected the blockbuster literary adaptation, from the casting to the effects to everything in between, with a heavy emphasis on the adapting of the novel itself, seeing as how all of us had read the book and therefore had no one to offer the non-book-read point-of view.

Also on tap:

* Rants of the Week
* Raves of the Week
* Last LAMB Standing

A couple notes:

* Due to Podomatic bandwidth calculation, I’ve gotten rid of the embeddable player that is usually included with these posts. The show can be found, of course, via iTunes – just do a search for “LAMBcast.” Also, I always post a link to the show on the LAMBcast’s Facebook page, and there’s a player there if you’d like to listen online.

* Shows will eventually make their way to the LAMBcast Archives. If you’d ever like to catch up on back episodes, go there.

* If you’re interested, you too can be a LAMBcaster – we love new blood! For more information on the LAMBcast, check out the topic at the LAMB Forums. Music provided royalty-free by Kevin MacLeod’s Incompetech website. Big thanks to Kevin for providing this service. Opening song by Cake. The LAMBcast loves feedback, too – if you’d like yours read on a future show, leave it in the comments section at the LAMB. Please visit and like our Facebook page, and finally, we’re on iTunes, and would still love a review, even if it’s a bad one.

Thanks for listening!

    I’d never read the books, but after seeing the film, I’ll have to give them a shot. I thought the acting was very well done, but I didn’t like how the violence shots cut away to the audience. For me, it took something away from the film. Overall decent movie.
