Hello everyone.
Yes it’s that time my dear and favorite readers for us to embark on a most excellent adventure. We will travel these here inter tubes in search of new and exciting things. I am your host, The Vern and I will be the one guiding ewe through this factory of delicious confections. It’s just that instead of giving ewe candy(gotta look out after your health) I will give you movie trailers and my thoughts on them. Are you ready kids? Than let’s go.

The first one was enjoyable but it did not hold it’s promise to be a throwback to those action classics from the 80’s that I loved. This new one looks to have a bit more action, and more screen time for all of the stars but I’m still not going to see it. This is mainly due to Chuck Norris’ bitching about how the first one was rated R and it’s use of vulgar language and heavy violence. Therefore if he was going to be involved in the sequel they would have to tone those elements. So now instead of a good hardcore action flick, we have a very saturated PG-13 one. The kind where a lot of people die but no one is actually seen getting hurt. Also we are going to see men who are not afraid to beat the living crap out of each other but will not say The F word more than once. In short this almost looks like someone took the first “Expendables” movie and removed it’s balls. I don’t care how many fist fights, explosions or gun battles are put into this. “Expendables 2” lacks the courage to call itself an action movie. I’m sure I will get comments saying that not all action films have to be rated R and I will agree with ewe. But the real fans that are going to see this are going because of their love of these actors in those kind of movies. Pass.

Another reboot of this character was bound to happen sooner or later. It just happened a bit too soon if ewe ask me. Yes, everyone’s favorite wall crawler(Andrew Garfield) swings back onto the big screen in an all new version. This one has him fighting The Lizard(Rhys Ifans) while trying to romance Gwen Stacy(Emma Stone). The romance between Parker and Stacy was a very important element in the comics, so I’m glad that they are presenting it in this one. I just wish they didn’t do the whole origin story of this character all over again. Everyone knows that he was bit by a radioactive spider to obtain his powers, and that he learned to become more responsible with them after his uncle was shot by a criminal he helped escape. We don’t need to see that story again. The cast is good but are people really ready to get back into theatres again to see the same story? Marc Webb the movie’s director previously directed the rom com”500 Days Of Summer” and I’m not saying he won’t do a good job at an action flick. He just doesn’t have that intense love of this character that Sam Raimi had with his version. However the comics themselves have tons of series with this same character so why can’t the movies. See

Jake Gyllenhaal and Micheal Pena play two rookie cops who become the target of a criminals in this action drama. If the “21 Jump Street” movie was done as a drama instead of a comedy. Ewe would basically have this movie. Not trying to say this looks bad, it’s just the first thing that came to mind when I was watching this trailer. Instead of cops fighting drug dealers at a high school with constant funny one liners They are fighting them out on the streets with heavy guns and maybe just a few funny lines. I’m sure it is very formulaic, but at least it has characters who are interesting and the action does look intense at times. Also co starring Anna Kendrick and America Ferrera. See
Peace Love and Misunderstanding

Catherine Keener is a no nonsense lawyer who comes out to the country side with her kids(Elizabeth Olsen and Chace Crawford) to spend time with her mother(Jane Fonda) who lives in a hippie community. This looks very much like “Laurel Canyon” which also featured a very conservative man (Christian Bale)visiting his free loving mother (Francis McDormand). The story of “Peace Love & Misunderstanding” looks very predictable. It will most likely involve both parent and child learning to appreciate each other’s differences and at the end they will all love each other even more. Despite my love of seeing Elizabeth Olsen in another flick. This movie does very little to engage my interest of seeing it in theatres. Especially when the movie’s trailer tells ewe the entire plot in just under two minutes. Rent
