Foreign Chops #2: French New Wave

by Steve · June 7, 2012 · Foreign Chops · 10 Comments

Wow. I knew that there’d be a big response to a post on the French New Wave, but I had no idea it would be this big! The response for French New Wave links was almost overwhelming. In fact, there were so many that I had to limit the number that I put up. Essentially, if you sent me links to films outside of the prime French New Wave period (mid-1950s to 1970), I did not include them here. Sorry, but there was simply too much to do otherwise. I included as much as I could without making this site explode. If this eliminated some of your links, I apologize, but I had to set some limits on this one.

Even with some trimming, we have more links that I’d have thought possible for one post like this. It was, I suppose, a bit of a miscalculation on my part. This means that I’ll be limiting the number of links I will include for a given site from this point forward. Once bitten and all of that.

Foreign Chops posts on the first Thursday of every month. We’ll have a brand new category of film for you in July. Until then, enjoy this gargantuan-sized edition of Foreign Chops after the jump.

WOW!!!!! There’s clearly a demand for this feature!!!! Way to go Steve!!!!

  2. martinteller says:

I didn’t expect you to use ALL the links I sent, but I appreciate it! Guess it’s a good thing I didn’t send even more, huh? Looking forward to reading what other Lambs have to say about these films.

    • SJHoneywell says:

I think a couple of yours (a couple of mine, too) fell outside the 1970 cutoff point.

Hey, I want this to be inclusive and exciting and interesting for everyone. Maybe, seeing this much on the screen at once will get others to jump in, too.

That said, look for a five-article cap on future editions. This took me about 3 hours to put together.

  3. What an incredible turnout! Nice work Steve.

  4. Lindsay says:

Awesome turnout from some really talented writers.

  5. Jessica says:

This is like a library for this category. Fantastic. I’m afraid I couldn’t provide a single link since I haven’t seen anything in this genre. I guess it’s about time I try some and then I know where to look for ideas. :)

Just a question: Do you at this point have any idea about what the next theme will be?

  6. Great! I’ll have lots of reading to do now! Thanks for the many many links! Le Mot du Cinephiliaque is very proud to participate here!

  7. Jandy says:

So I guess it’s okay that I didn’t get around to this in time. :) Maybe next time I’ll get on the foreign chops a little earlier, especially if it’s in an area close to my heart like this again. Looking forward to finding time to go through the links!

  8. Impressive, to say the least – keep up the good work!
