Hello Lammies  and fellow movie lovers.

As I write this latest installment of the Trailer Trash article, I have now begun my thirty-fifth year on this planet some of you call Earth.  I’m not quite sure why you decide to call it this, but hey.  I can’t think of a better name either so I guess it works.   I wish I had the full day off for my Birthday so I could spend it watching movies or at least converse with all of you fine folks , but sadly I have to work.   As promised I will be giving you all some tasty trailer tidbits of the week, but this will be a short one.    At least I have the weekend off which is always a win for me.   I hope you all have a great day too.

A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III.    02/08/2013

What do we love more than seeing a celebrity fail?  We love it when they make a comeback, and I feel that this movie from director Roman Coppola (Sofia’s brother) is just that project to help out Charlie Sheen.  This looks  like a Charlie Kauffman script if it was directed by Wes Anderson.  Although I could be saying that because I am seeing both Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman co-star in this.

Sound City.

This is the place where a lot of really great albums by artists like Tom Petty, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, and Fleetwood Mac made their hit records.  With the advent of digital recording, the studio has taking quite a decline these last few years.  While I appreciate director Dave Grohl showing us footage of all these great bands and giving us a really good history lesson on this place.  It also seems to be a movie that looks down on the idea of  digital recording.   Having people record their own music in the basement of their homes is the most purest form of Rock & Roll I can think of.  You don’t have any type of corporate influencing your music.

Storage 24.  01/11/2013

Storage 24” is  “Alien” set inside one of those big storage facilities.   Watch the ending of this trailer, and tell me it doesn’t remind you of that other movie.  Their interpretation of that one famous noise is pathetic and laughable.  I don’t care if the performances in this is good.  If you have to remind people of another movie so that they will see your movie.  You have no originality for me to care about so I’m skipping you.

Sellebrity

I mentioned before how we love to see a celebrity fail.  We also seem to  enjoy any type of gossip these jackals who claim to be journalists will give us.  This type of media obsession I feel has gone to far and I’m glad that there is a documentary that exposes it.  Now some people  could make the argument that this is the life these celebrites have asked for.  Because if they didn’t, why would they want to become famous.  Taking a picture of an Actor at a movie premiere is one thing, but snapping photos of them while they are shopping with their families or having any type of private moment is a bit of an overkill.  With the advent of the digital camera any yahoo in the world now can claim to be a journalist   But the real problem lies with us.   Why are so so consumed by this type of trashy gossip,I don’t understand it.  It’s great to have news story about a film project these actors and actresses are working on or something else in their professional career.  But their private lives should really not be discussed much unless it’s really an important issue like they died or killed someone.

So Undercover.   02/05/2013

This movie looks bad no matter who stars in this. If you take the basic concept of “Miss Congeniality” and have it be set inside a high school.  You would  have the same movie, but at least that other one was really good and this one is utter horse shit.  Stereotypical characters and implausible scenarios make this one a major skip.  I don’t hate Miley Cyrus and I do think she does have some talent, but if she wants to be taken as a serious actress.  She needs to stop with all of these sub par direct to DVD movies she keeps making.

Freeloaders.

This is the new movie comedy that tells the story of a group of people who are being forced out of their home because the owner they don’t see is moving .  In order to make some money they decide to allow a porno studio shoot some flicks inside their house.   I’m a bit disappointed that this is being written and directed by Dan Rosen because he made a really good Dark Comedy back in 1995 called “The Last Supper” .  This one looks like the million of other sex comedies that get released each year and it has no real substance for me to get excited about.

Trailer Hitch:  CQ   05/22/2002

Most people may not know who Roman Coppola is and think that “A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III” is his first feature.  Lately he has been on the set of his sister Sofia’s movies as the assistant director, and that type of on set training has helped him establish his style a little bit more.   Here  is the ad for his first feature “CQ“. Enjoy

Let me know in the comments what movies look good or tell me about the ones I have missed reviewing.  Have a great day.
