What is the main focus of your site? Eleven months out of the year, Beyond the Films is general purpose Film Criticism website. We cover all genres of film, from mega-budget superhero flicks to lo-fi indie talkers. During October, we transform into a horror-specialty blog.
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog? Beyond the Films is currently a non-commercial blog. We love sharing our thoughts on film with fellow cineastes. Ideally we’d like to expose underappreciated and indie films to new audiences.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students? We love interacting with readers, and welcome (topic relevant) comments. We do moderate comments on our site and social media networks, so be nice.
How long has this site been active for, and how frequently do you post updates to your site? (Note: sites must be active for at least three months for entry to the LAMB.) Beyond the Films was established in 2007 as a class project. It became an exclusively film focused blog in 2008. We try to post at least one movie review a month and a collection of movie news stories every Friday. The frequency can vary (we have day jobs!).
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more). James Ryder: ALIEN is a stone cold classic.
Ann Marie: UNCLE BUCK is my favorite.
Name a movie you hate!! JR: GROWN UPS made me feel dead inside. AM: I didn’t get the appeal of BRIDESMAIDS.
How did hear about the LAMB? If it was a LAMB, do you recall which one? We noticed that Candice Fredrick’s Reel Talk blog (http://www.reeltalkonline.org/) had a link to LAMB and here we are…
Any additional comments, or give yourself an interview question that’s not listed above. (optional) Thanks for checking out our profile! See you at the movies!
