Apparently, Jay really, really wanted to win, and he really, really wanted Demolition Man to be the film he won with. The man from Life vs. Film went all out for the MOTM poll; overall, we had 137 votes, and his film had more than half of them, in a competition that was a competition for about 12 hours before it got out of hand. To the rest of the potential Champions (well, except for Joe, perhaps), don’t fret. Try again next month and perhaps it will be your turn! And so, the 1993 action extravaganza (and possible guilty pleasure) becomes the latest Movie of the Month (quite a far cry from Double Imdemnity, no?)
So, here’s what goes down from here:
* The first thing you need to know is that September 15th is the big day. You have just about three weeks to watch the flick, write up something, then send me the link (dylan at manilovefilms.com; you may also post to the LAMBcast’s Twitter account) to either what you write or something previously written. If you’re planning on doing the former, please hold the post in draft until the 15th (you can send a link prior if you have the capability to do so).
* On September 8th, we’ll be recording our MOTM-themed episode of the LAMBcast, where we’ll dissect and discuss Demolition Man. If you’d like to get in on it, there is the NEW Wild Card spot on the show, delivered via first-come, first-served. The show’s recording time is 9am Pacific, so if you’d like in, speak up! Also, for anyone else, keep an eye out at the LAMB Forums to for the future shows schedule, as people often have to bail before the day arrives.
* On the 15th, the LAMBcast will be posted, as well as all of the links to anything written. In addition, I’ll include a poll to decide what the next MOTM flick will be (the call for new Champions will be coming at some point before then). That poll will run for a week, and then there’ll be 3-4 weeks until the next event, and so on.
Here are the final results of the poll (click to enlarge):
* Life Vs. Film will be ineligible to become a Champion for the next three months. Public Transportation Snob has two more months of ineligibility remaining, and French Toast Sunday has one. The Vern’s Video Vortex becomes eligible again with the next poll.
