If it seems as though we just keep getting more and more ambitious with these lookbacks/retrospectives…well, that’s pretty much true. That said, we’re not insane. The Coen Brothers had 15 films in their filmography prior to Inside Llewyn Davis; as much as we might have liked to watch all 15, that would make for at least a four-hour podcast, to say nothing of the time involved in watching/rewatching all of them (in a timely fashion) prior to recording. So we narrowed the list down to eight (don’t ask how), consisting essentially of their first six films, as well as two of their lesser-seen ones from the early 2000s:
* Blood Simple
* Raising Arizona
* Miller’s Crossing
* Barton Fink
* The Hudsucker Proxy
* Fargo
* The Man Who Wasn’t There
* The Ladykillers
On hand for the rumpus was Jay Cluitt, Matt Stewart, Tom Clift (triumphant return!) and host Dylan Fields. Since the feature discussion was still super-sized, we skipped out on Rants/Raves as well as any games.
