Hi everyone! I’ve got something of an announcement for you, hence the “Announcement” category of this post. Turns out, that’s what it’s for. Anyway, as many of you have noticed, the LAMB’s former bleat of activity has diminished somewhat in recent months. Former shepherd Joel announced his resignation in late 2014 and since then only the hardiest of features have kept going whilst the search for a new shepherd took place. And now, after some life evaluating and the desire to keep this movie-discussing community going strong, I have decided to step up and assume the mantle.
Please, hold your applause, stop the parades and put the confetti away, it takes far too much time to clean up and just isn’t worth it. Now don’t go expecting everything to suddenly jump up and be working as well as it did back in the good old days, this is going to be a gradual process, but we’re going to get there, and we’re going to do it together. My team is currently comprised of Todd from Forgotten Films, the Forgotten Filmcast and Walt Sent Me, who’ll be running his monthly Chops posts on various topics, and The Vern of The Vern’s Video Vortex and the As You Watch podcast, who will continue hosting the Lambcast’s sister podcast, The Film Pasture. As for me, you can’t drag me away from hosting the Lambcast (although some of you might want to), and my priority on the LAMB proper will be instating the stockpile of New Lambs, which will be happening daily from now until the paddock is clear, which might take a while. You can also expect to see the return of some old favourite features like LambScores, Acting School 101, Director’s Chair and the LAMB Podcasting Network’s Weekly Roundup in due time. I also plan to bring back the annual features of the Lions For Lambs Awards, The LAMB Devours The Oscars (just missed that one for this year) and, of course, the LAMMYs, but I’ve got a lot to get sorted out before any of them can take place!
Finally, the LAMB site. It needs a bit of work, I know, and I’ve already given it a quick once-over to clean up some broken links and missing pages, but there’s still more that needs doing, and I’ll get to it as I can, and there’ll be a full site redesign in due course as well. In the meantime, if you spot something that needs some attention, or if there are any features you think are missing or could be improved upon, drop a line in the comments. For now though it’s time to open the gates and let the new Lambs in! I hope I can be an adequate shepherd for you, and above all I hope the LAMB site and community can be everything you want it to be.
If you’d like to join the LAMB staff or have ideas for new features, improvements or feedback in general, please leave a note in the comments, find me on Twitter (@lambcast) or email me at jaycluitt(at)hotmail.com.
