What is the main focus of your site? There in the Dark offers my thoughts on current movies — but also delves into my favorite films of all time. Years ago, a newspaper used to pay me real, actual money for my reviews, but now I just do it for fun. But I’m nevertheless always shocked to find one of my pieces with 500 or 600 readers (even, in the case of one essay, more than 5,000!).
What are your blogging goals, personally and/or professionally? In other words, what, if anything, are you trying to get out your blog? Originally, it started simply as a way for me to keep track of the movies I saw and what I thought of them, an online version of the physical movie diary I’ve kept since 2002. It’s grown into a place where I can explore my thoughts at a bit more length, and hopefully give my friends some recommendations on what to see, what to skip and what to revisit.
Do you prefer an interactive community for your blog or are you the teacher and your readers the students? I’d LOVE an interactive community, and constantly urge my friends to leave comments. But a writer/reader relationship is just fine with me.
How long has this site been active for, and how frequently do you post updates to your site? (Note: sites must be active for at least three months for entry to the LAMB.) I’ve been active since early 2012, and have shocked myself by keeping it up for more than four years. I typically post at least once a week, sometimes a couple of times a week, and at a bare minimum two times a month, except in cases of extreme emergency (which hasn’t happened yet).
Name up to three of your favorite movies (and no more). Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Defending Your Life
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Name a movie you hate!! Moulin Rouge!
How did hear about the LAMB? If it was a LAMB, do you recall which one? Purely a Google search.
What movie have you seen more than any other? That would have to be either “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” or “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” both of which happen to be in my list of three favorite movies! Also, what’s your favorite film running time?
What’s your favorite film running time? Mine would be 105 minutes. It’s just the PERFECT running time, don’t you think?
